Develop a managed off‑road vehicle site at Sundon Pits, Bedfordshire
A regulated facility offers a long‑term solution balancing recreation with conservation. Although complex and initially costly, a managed approach reduces ongoing public spending and protects sensitive habitats. Providing off-road enthusiasts a safe place to enjoy their activities locally.
A proposal will be submitted to our local MP asking to assess Sundon Pits for controlled off‑road use. This sites current unmanaged use presents hazardous antisocial behaviour, environmental damage, noise pollution, fly‑tipping, with repeated police, and fire call‑outs. Evidence from regulated sites elsewhere in England such as Parkwood Outdoors or Hawkstone Park show managed off‑road provision reduces illegal riding, harm, and emergency service use; schemes supported by Natural England/RSPB.
