Change the EPL VAR rules so that each check has to be done in under 1 minute
VAR was introduced into the english game to identify and correct “clear and obvious errors”. However the checks can be over 5 minutes and have over 20 replays to spot an offence, clearly showing it’s not obvious.
I propose to set a time limit on VAR checks so that our game wont be ruined.
On average every VAR delay within the EPL takes 4 minutes and 12 seconds. That should be telling enough that the referee teams do not follow their own rules about the usage of VAR. “Clear and obvious errors” should never take over 4 minutes to spot.
I propose setting a 1 minute allowance for VAR checks to combat this issue. This gives ample time to spot an obvious error and puts the power of decisions back onto the referee, which would encourage a greater standard of officiating.
