Stop Christmas Promotions in retail outlets before 1 November each year.
Ban in-store Christmas displays, music and Christmas branded sections before 1 Nov. Early promotions pressure families to spend for longer, dilute the season, crowd out autumn/Halloween, and harm wellbeing.
We, the undersigned, call for rules to stop retailers from using Christmas displays, in-store advertising, playing Christmas music, or creating dedicated aisles before 1 November. Early Christmas promotion makes the season less special and puts unnecessary pressure on families and individuals to spend over a longer period, causing consumer fatigue which negatively affects their mental wellbeing through the prolonged commercial pressure. Set clear guidance and enforcement to protect consumers.
