Protect DV survivors from post-separation abuse and legal harassment
We want better protection for DV survivors after separation.Police and courts should recognise patterns of coercive control, especially where offenders already have records, Claire’s Law disclosures or criminal charges. Systems should not be misused to continue harassment and intimidation of victims
After leaving an abusive relationship, I continued to face harassment, false allegations, intimidation and fear. Despite criminal charges and previous concerns already being known, I felt unsupported and retraumatised by systems meant to protect victims. The stress, fear and ongoing abuse after separation became so overwhelming it severely affected my mental health and left me feeling hopeless. Survivors need real protection after leaving, not continued trauma. Where’s the support for victims?
