Allow Trans People to Use Toilets Aligned with Their Gender Identity
We call on all relevant authorities and service providers to formalise the right for trans people to use public toilet facilities that match their gender identity. This is a basic matter of dignity, safety, and equality, and is supported by official guidance, evidence, and human rights principles.
Forcing trans people to use facilities matching their sex at birth causes severe harm: 49% have faced abuse in public toilets, 30% restrict eating/drinking to avoid them, and 42% say fear stops them from working or leaving home. Trans people face 4x more hate generally, and pose no credible risk to other, the opposite is a harmful myth.
Under the Equality Act, trans people must be treated by their gender identity. We demand clear rules for inclusive toilet access based on evidence not prejudice.
