Electrification of the Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury railway.
We want the government to electrify the Shrewsbury to Wolverhampton line.
This will cut journey times, increase capacity, and slash carbon emissions. It will unlock direct electric services from Shropshire to Birmingham and London, giving our local economy the modern transport links it deserves.
The Shrewsbury to Wolverhampton line is a vital cross border bottleneck holding back both Shropshire and Wales. This outdated diesel-only link causes slow journeys and limited capacity for local commuters, businesses, and travelers using Shrewsbury as the link to the Welsh network. Electrification will deliver faster, cleaner, more reliable electric trains, cutting carbon emissions and unlocking direct, seamless rail links to Birmingham and London for communities across Mid Wales and Shropshire.
