Take stronger action to reduce the impact of the UK cost of living crisis
The Government should introduce additional national measures to reduce the impact of the cost of living crisis. This could include further support for households, action to stabilise essential costs, or policies that help ensure wages keep pace with rising prices.
The UK is facing a severe cost of living crisis affecting 9 in 10 adults. Prices for food, energy, rent and transport have risen faster than wages, leaving many households struggling. Energy bills rose over 80%, food inflation reached 19.2%, and rents increased more than 9%. Millions rely on food banks, and public services face extra pressure. Inflation has fallen, but high prices remain, and families continue to struggle.
