Petition Action

Introduce law and systems that allow the people to hold Judges accountable

Petition Details

I think we are all due a law and systems that allows the public to hold Judges accountable for terrible sentences given to criminals. This just isn't working anymore and we need a change.

Let's hold them accountable for releasing criminals back into society without an adequate sentencing.

Additional Information

I want the public to be able to vote to hold judges accountable for abysmal sentences for crimes commited.

For example: if someone was to violently attack an officer, and was given a get out of jail free card – I think the judge is due to either lose their job, or face substantial jail time for negligence.

Having criminals within our community doesn't help anyone, it destroys not just the trust in the justice system, but the trust in the police as well. Give us the power to curtail injustice.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. For instance, we are unsure what the mechanism for your proposal would be and how this is triggered, including who would be voting and when, and what the exact consequences are and how this would be determined.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
