Create a Mental Health Therapy Credit Scheme for Low-Income People
We call on the Government to introduce a Mental Health Therapy Credit Scheme to help low-income individuals access accredited counselling and trauma therapy while waiting for NHS treatment.
Millions of people across the UK are experiencing mental health difficulties, trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD and complex emotional distress.
For those unable to afford private counselling, there is often no realistic support available between referral and treatment. This leaves vulnerable people struggling alone, resulting in worsening mental health, increased pressure on crisis services, loss of employment, & family breakdown.
We propose a government-funded therapy credit system.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
It is clear that you want extra support for people on low incomes who are waiting for mental heath support on the NHS but is not at all clear how your credit scheme you are calling for is intended to function.
