Private nursery workers deserve fair sick pay. We regularly catch illnesses from children, yet face low pay and staff shortages. Better sick pay would protect families, reduce pressure to work while unwell, improve retention, and recognise the vital care we provide.

Private nursery staff provide essential care and education while working in environments where exposure to viruses and infections is common.Many employees cannot afford time off when they become ill,especially with low wages and increasing workloads caused by staff shortages.Fair occupational sick pay would support healthier workplaces, improve recruitment and retention, reduce burnout,encourage proper recovery before returning to work,and recognise the important role of our job as it’s not easy
