Banning social media entirely is the wrong choice.
I believe the UK government should discard the ban against social media for under 16’s. By banning it, children will become less socially educated on the world around them, be unable to access useful resources to build their own opinions and prohibit them from fully understanding the world.
Social media has become a strong platform for children to connect and engage with one another - and an essential part of education globally.
Whilst there are negative impacts to minors on social media, this is heavily outweighed by the positive impacts being achieved through social platforms. Not to mention simultaneously lowering the voting age to 16+ will leave those who are raised without outside awareness to form uneducated opinions and become ignorant. Please consider signing.
