Legalise private e-scooters with safety rules in the UK
Introduce legislation to legalise private e-scooters for public use in the UK, with sensible safety rules such as speed limits and age restrictions.
Private e-scooters are an affordable and environmentally friendly way to travel short distances. Rental e-scooters are already allowed in some areas, but privately owned ones remain restricted. We want the Government to introduce clear regulations, such as speed limits and age requirements, to allow safe legal use.
Safety Rules:
Safety rules: 5-10 mph on pavements, 20 mph on cycle lanes/paths, up to 30 mph on roads, plus lights, indicators and suspension.
