Call a general election
Require a General Election if the governing party changes its Prime Minister between elections. The public voted for a government under one leader. If that leader changes during a Parliament, the electorate should have the opportunity to vote again in a General Election.
Democracy depends on the consent of the people. When the governing party changes its leader, the country can end up with a Prime Minister whom the public has never had the opportunity to endorse in that role. We believe any such change should trigger a General Election so the British people can decide who governs them and maintain confidence in our democratic system.
