Building skills and respect in young adults
The riots of recent days have shown that a significant number of a new generation is coming into adult life with both a disrespect for their community and with an inability or unwillingness to participate in our society.
I call upon the government to overhaul the current education service so upon leaving school there are three available options of which one must be chosen. The options should be university education; vocational or trade qualification; compulsory national service.
As well as ensuring that everybody has the opportunity to build their skill set and contribute to society this would enforce an understanding and respect on unwilling participants.
It may be a long term fix to our current problems but would at least ensure a plan is in place to restore respect in our society as one currently does not exist.
