Public Jury
A 1,000-strong "public jury" should be selected at random to draw up a "public interest first" test to ensure that power is taken away from "remote interest groups" which currently treat the public with contempt, according to the group's declaration. The call for a public jury has been signed by 56 academics, writers, trade unionists and politicians from Labour, the Liberal Democrats and the Green party.
This e-petition has been raised so that non-politicians can raise their voice to support the motion.
The Attorney Generals Office should be responsible for coordinating a group of volunteers to stand for the Public Jury to examine matters of interest to the Jury.
Any matter outside the remit of the normal court system can be raised by a quorum of jururs who can hen convene the Jury and call for evidence form the police, government and external bodies - companies, quangos, ...
The government will not have any power of veto over the Public Jury.
You can't sign this petition because it is now closed. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
