Petition Action

Sentence convicted rioters to National Service

Additional Information

The scale of riots seen in recent days (in terms of the number of convictions and the amount of damage caused) will the cost the taxpayer millions to clean up, repair and house these criminals in already overcrowded prisons.

This ePetition proposes to introduce a mandatory National Service duty for 2-5 years of anyone convicted of criminal acts carried out in connection with the riots.

This sentence would:

1. Reduce the burden on the taxpayer
2. Act as a substantial deterrent to any further riots
3. Repay society by providing a beneficial service
4. Educate convicted persons about responsibility and discipline
