Promoting Job Awareness
AIMS:
- Increase awareness of the routes available for young persons in education.
- Create more determined and focussed young persons in the job market.
- Increase the support and information given during a young persons' decision making.
SUGGESTED MEANS:
I suggest experienced careers advisors create a basic training programme to share their expertise with one representative in each school to address any concerns raised by pupils during their decision making. This 'Careers Rep' will be able to answer questions about the routes available on a general level and give directions to sources for more detailed enquires. The government should discuss the idea of a training programme for careers advisors in every school and the access to careers information at any time of year.
