Write off Tax Credit Overpayments 2003 to 2006 as requested by CPAG motion (2003 to 2005).

Additional Information

The tax credit overpayments of 2003 to 2006 should be written off to release the taxpayer from the overwhelming administrative burden likely posed by attempting to collect such payments allegedly due. It is widely acknowledged that the new system of tax credits in early days had teething problems. CPAG have requested this for some time; and given increase in cost of living and in child poverty; which tax credits had aimed to cut by 2011, is it not time for an amnesty; for those who were due help not to be punished by a 'no blame' culture akin to acceptance 'feasances in pulblic offence can be dealt with by political deafness, wilfull blindless and overpowering of 'individual' customers. The civil service should serve the public, not merely the preservation of itself.
