Compulsory National Service for school leavers under 21
Re-introduction of compulsory National Service for school leavers under 21. Young people would be required to join either one of the armed forces for 2 years, the emergency services, or a voluntary sector organisation. This would apply equally to those people planning on attending further/higher education, would serve as a pause in their plans, with a view to experiencing the adult world first hand whilst being in the service of the public. At the same time university entrance age would be raised to 21 with the purpose of facilitating National service and a national apprenticeship scheme would be introduced to engage those not seeking a university education.
