Electric Cars should not be subsidised
In the UK 98% of the electricity required to run electric vehicles comes from oil, gas, coal and nuclear power, their batteries need to be regularly replaced at huge cost to the owner and they have an impractically low range.
Despite the fact that their wholesale adoption will have very little, if any, effect on CO2 levels and create havoc in the those parts of the world where lithium is mined the taxpayer is being asked to subsidise every electric car to the tune of £5,000.
Why?
We should stop this ridiculous waste of money right away.
