Don't let the riots shape our society
We the undersigned petition the government to take a calm and measured response to the recent riots and not rush into any curtailing of our civil liberties.
We do not want the unacceptable actions of a few to shape our society and legal system in a way that may have unforeseen consequences. We ask that the government takes proper consultation outside the 'heat' of the current climate.
We feel that attempting to impose measures outside of the criminal justice system such as the removal of benefits will further disaffect a segment of society that is already disenchanted and cause more harm than good to social cohesion.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.
You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
