Benefit Payments should be earned
All recipients of Job Seekers Allowance should have to carry out work in their local community in order to qualify to receive the cash benefit.
Work would be detailed and supervised by Local Authorities in conjunction with Benefits staff.
Hours of work will be determined by the amount of the cash benefit entitlement divided by the minimum wage (based on current age related criteria). This should encourage claimants to actively seek work full time.
This new process should also be the only trigger to other benefit entitlements.
In order to enforce work ethic hours of work should be clearly defined between 6.00am and 6.00pm, as for the majority of the working population, Monday to Friday.
No work, no money should be the slogan.
Let's get communities working again.
