Should people on benefits work for them?
We hear that the goverment doesn't do enough for the unemployed.
Should the unemployed do more for their benefits?
I propose a week that includes three days community work and two days attending job clubs.
The work would benefit the communities they live in and vocational qualifications could be obtained. Thus giving people experience, training and qualifications in areas that they would like to work.
The job club would involve training on interview techniques, job applications etc.
For those taking part, benefits would be increased to minimum wage and travel passes would be free to assist further.
This would give people pride in and respect for themseleves and their communities, whilst contributing to the economy.
Those not taking part see reduced benefits.
